Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse: the New Requirements for PA

In 2014 the governor signed multiple bills amending the Child Protective Services Law for Pennsylvania. There were sweeping changes to the process of mandated reporting of suspected child abuse, who can be listed as a perpetrator of suspected child abuse and who is required to report suspected child abuse. This session will highlight those changes and identify where you can go to get the required training for Mandated Reporters of Suspected Child Abuse.

2014-15 ELECT Updates
This session served as an introduction and discussed the format of the 2014-15 monitoring visits and PDE's expectations for this year. Changes to the program and data requirements were also addressed.

Selected Issues about Girls in Juvenile Justice: Violence, Sexuality, and Transition to Home
This session will describe the current status of girls in detention, address selected dimensions related to girls in detention, and provide practical interventions to address these complex issues. How girls perceive and deal with violence in their world, sexuality and sexual risk behaviors among young women, and girls' perceptions of the challenges and supports they face when transitioning to home are both separate and inter-related issues that will be addressed.
